Way of Wellbeing Event : Sunset Yoga & Meditation featuring Eddie Stern @Terra Madre Gardens, Escondido, CA

There are some special hours which are particularly favorable for practicing yoga and meditation. However, any time is golden for doing good things. Whatever you are doing – working, talking, walking, be constantly aware of your yoga sadhana for total wellbeing.

In the human body there are 72,000 nadis which conduct the energy. The following three nadis are the most important: the ida, the pingala and the sushumna. The ida is connected with the left nostril. This main nadi is influenced by the moon. The pingala is connected to the right nostril and carries the influence of the sun.

The time of sandhya is called brahmamuhurta. That is the part of the day when stars and sun alternate. Sandhya is the time when the stars are fading, but the sun has not yet risen, and in the evening when the stars have only just appeared, before they shine. In the broader sense, since these transitions happen gradually, brahmamuhurta counts from two hours before sunrise and one hour after, and half an hour before sunset to one hour after.

Join us at Terra Madre Gardens, for a special evening of yoga and meditation with world-renowned yoga teacher, Eddie Stern.

The Way of Wellbeing is organizing a special evening of yoga and meditation to bring together the San Diego community (Sangha). We are dedicating this evening to the selfless service of our armed forces, veterans and first responders (police & fire department). We are delighted to partner with former fire fighter John Vargo, the founder of the Turnin.life movement.

Meditation & Breath Workshop with Eddie Stern

Eddie Stern is one of the most recognized and extraordinary teachers in the world today known for his multi-disciplinary approach to furthering education and access to yoga, as well as his teaching expertise in Ashtanga Yoga to which he devoted his entire life, including its more esoteric aspects. His approach combines the ancient philosophy and practices of yoga with a modern, scientific understanding of the neurobiological mechanisms that make yoga work.

By being one of the closest students of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, he has initiated the publications of Yoga Mala and many other books on Ashtanga Yoga. This workshop is a great opportunity to share with Eddie the true and pure essence of comprehensive system of Ashtanga Yoga and learn about his ideas on science, philosophy and physiology related to yoga and its practices today.

THE WORKSHOP

  • A guided meditation and discussion on the philosophy of “dhyana” from the yoga sutras.

  • What is prana? Is it breath? Is it energy? Is it something else? In this class we will look at some different ideas on what prana is, and how the breathing exercises called pranayama help to harness it. He will share some simple, safe and effective pranayama practices.

  • An interactive discussion with Poonacha Machaiah on his new book “One Simple Thing” -- the discussion will cover a variety of scientific findings and yogic explanations that complement both an Eastern and Western approach to spiritual practice.
